Valencia City Formally Opens Farmers Month Celebration

The City Government of Valencia through the City Agriculture Office headed by Acting City Agriculture Officer Ms. Connie L. Dalangan formally opened the Farmer’s Month Celebration with the theme "Mag-uuma Magtambayayong, Kinaiyahan Panggaon Aron Kalamboan Maangkon Taliwala Sa Hagit Sa Panahon," at the city hall covered court on October 1, 2015.

Ms. Connie L. Dalangan, gratefully welcomed the participants coming from the different barangays, Rural Improvement Clubs and local organizations. She said the month-long celebration aims to recognize every farmer’s dedication and their hard work in helping the economy of the city.

"This month's celebration will be more exciting as we will have different activities and programs that will showcase the work of our farmers and the bountiful agricultural products of the city," Dalangan said. She also announced that all barangays are candidates for the different recognitions to be given during the culmination program on October 26 to 27, 2015.

The City Agriculture Office, through the support of the Local Chief Executive, Hon. Azucena P. Huervas has been working to improve their services for the benefit of the farmers. “Valencia City is an agricultural city, and Valencia City is dubbed as “The City of Golden Harvest” and it is the dream of our city mayor to pursue agricultural programs that could greatly benefit our local farmers. The local government is on its way to provide different farming machineries that will help to have a low cost land preparation," Dalangan said.

On the other hand, Hon. Camilo E. Pepito, City Councilor and Chairman on Committee on Agriculture, gave insight on the importance of farmers in the city. "Farmers are the foundation of our city," he said, adding that farmers are one of those who help our economy grow.

Hon. Pepito planned to put more investment in agriculture as Valencia City is an agricultural-based economy and known for its organic products. "We will do our best to have more budget in agriculture as it is an essential way to help our economy grow and that we can feed our people," Pepito said.

Hon. Glenn P. Peduche, City Councilor and former Chairman on Committee on Agriculture, also expressed his dedication of helping the farmers and improve our agriculture and environment. "We are encouraging everyone especially the different associations to stay active and be a responsible citizen," he said. Hon. Peduche founded the Farmers Month that is celebrated every month of October.

Furthermore, Mayor Azucena P. Huervas assured that the local government will always support the farmers and will continue to provide them different programs and services.
