Valencia City Showcases Agri-Lakad sa Gulayan

The City Government of Valencia, through the City Agriculture Office presented the Agri-Lakad sa Gulayan to showcase the products of the city's Communal Garden beside the new Slaughter House at Barangay Bagontaas, Valencia City on September 29, 2015.

Highlights of the activity are the harvesting of the fresh organic vegetables from the garden that includes eggplant, ampalaya, tomatoes, beans and a lot more.

Mr. Clemento G. Esto, Senior Agriculturist, Vegetable Demo In-Charge and Nutriland Focal Person, said the income from the demo farm will also be used for the nutrition program of the city.

The Communal Garden of the City Nutrition Committee is part of the city's program that supports the fight against child malnutrition.

Aside from the presentation, the activity also serves to promote plant seeds and demonstrate effective farming among participants from the different local agencies of the city.

This was also made possible through the partnership with East-West Company who has been supporting the programs of the city particularly on agriculture and nutrition. East-West Company was the main distributor of seeds in the city.

Furthermore, Valencia City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas congratulates the people behind the program for their effort and support. She said the local government is on its way of putting up of the Nurtriland at Barangay Pinatilan that soon will serve as the best practices of the city.

The Nutriland is one of the innovative programs of the city that promotes proper nutrition and adoption of healthy lifestyle.

Mayor Huervas was also glad to see the different products as she look over the garden together with Hon. Policarpo P. Murillo, IV M.D.

The occasion was also graced by acting City Agriculturist Ms. Connie L. Dalangan, Mr. Migeddo B. Bangis and Mr. Ronald Adorable of the East-West Seed Company, and Barangay Captain of Bagongtaas, Hon. Rosenda Berou.
