CENRO Conducts Training for Nursery Crews
The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) headed by For. Julius M. Parian, successfully held its one-day Training and Technical Capacity Building for nursery crews at City Central Forest and Fruit Tree Nursery, Hagkol, Valencia City on September 10, 2015.
The technical experts from the Provincial Forest and Timber Resources Research Center (FTRRC) paid a visit and help trained the 16 nursery crews who participated in the event.
Science Research Technicians, Mr. Kent Saelle Tionco, Ms. Espie Praga, and Ms. Nova Jane Espinosa shared their expertise and served as the event's resource speakers.
The team gave information that surely helped the nursery crews to gain new ideas on plant production and management as this serves as an effective way for the crews to improve their technical planting techniques and maintain the status of the City Central Forest and Fruit Tree Nursery as being an awardee of best plant nursery in the province.
On the other hand, Hon. Camilo E. Pepito, City Councilor and Chairman on Environment and Natural Resources, also gave support to the event and shared insights on the importance of having quality plants and seedlings. According to him, the God-given way of propagation is through seeds and that having knowledge of such is a gift. He even added that plants and trees are important as it help prevent flash floods.
For Julius M. Parian, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, also gave his appreciation and assured that the city will have more programs including the plan to recognize the best plant nurseries among barangays, “This is one of the programs that our Local Chief Executive, Hon. Azucena P. Huervas would like the department (CENRO) to focus on and together, we will strive for a greener Valencia City,” he added.
