Valencia City Conducts Orientation Briefing for Seal of Good Local Governance


The City Government of Valencia together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted an orientation briefing for this year's Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) at CAP Building,Hagkol, Valencia City on September 8, 2015.

The event was participated by City Local Government Operations Officer Ms. Amalia A. Propia of DILG, City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas, Councilor Policarpo P. Murillo IV, M.D., and the different City Department Heads.

The orientation serves as a preparation for the upcoming assessment and evaluation on the performance dimensions that include good financial housekeeping, disaster-preparedness, social protection, business-friendliness and competitiveness, and peace and order of the city.

The participants were also oriented on their roles on the assessment process, the criteria and indicators and the timeline of the assessment.

The City Government aims to meet the criteria for SGLG to ensure a consistent integrity and performance in public service and good local governance.

Mayor Huervas, in her message, encouraged the participants to have full cooperation to intensify the programs and services of the city.

Hon. Murillo, on the other hand, highlighted the success and recognition given to the city. "We have been given different recognition and that is because of the things we made for this city," he said, adding that the local government should always pledge to serve the people.

Meanwhile, the local government is also preparing to claim the award for passing the SGLG 2014 on September 10 in Cagayan de Oro City.

The city was entitled to avail the performance challenge fund worth 5 million pesos for passing the seal of good governance in 2014.
