Spearheads 115th Civil Service Month Celebration

September 2, 2015: The City Government of Valencia is spearheading the Civil Service Month Celebration on September 2015 with the theme, “Kayang-kaya Mo, Lingkod Bayani.” The month-long anniversary celebration aims to promote, showcase, and celebrate heroism and camaraderie in public service. To highlight stories of triumph and sacrifice among the men and women in public service, the City Government will undertake various activities, sports events and competitions including medical-dental and wellness activities, community service and Mr. and Ms. Civil Service 2015.

During the Opening Program, the employees eagerly participated in the parade wherein the teams were judged for the best performing teams by the prominent Judges from Valencia City: Ms. Lolita L. Garcia, Chapter President of the Girls Scout of the Philippines Bukidnon Chapter, Ms. Nonita Rosales, Station Manager of DXMV Radyo Ukay/92.9 Wild FM, Mr. Dex Ampo of Rudirex Productions and Architect Marianne Basa-Carpio of Ibuild Ventures. The Best Teams and the corresponding awards are as follows:

Special Guests from the Civil Service Regional Office 10 and Civil Service Bukidnon Field Office graced the occasion. Ms. Lilia Baliguat, CSC Bukidnon OIC introduced the guest speaker, Director Adams D. Torres, and during his inspirational talk, he congratulated the City Government of Valencia through the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas for spearheading a meaningful event which boosts the self-esteem and morale of the public servants in Valencia City.

The City Mayor, during her message, emphasized the importance of camaraderie and unity among employees to serve best the constituents of Valencia City.

All LGU Offices, National Offices, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations, Partner Agencies and Institutions are joining the month-long celebration. The Teams are arranged as follows:

The celebration will be divided into different activities per week.

The first week will start-off with the Opening Ceremonies of the celebration. There will be a parade of all government employees highlighted by the exposure of the Mr. and Miss Civil Service Contestants from different teams, torch relay by department heads and City Officials, banner parade by different departments, lighting of the cauldron, oath of sportsmanship, presentation of candidates for Mr. and Miss Civil Service, kick-off obstacle race, parlor games, indigenous games, team-building games and structured learning experiences.

The second week will focus on employees’ welfare events which are aimed in improving basic customer service skills, introduction of financial coaching and forum from partner agencies which will help public servants in boosting their self-esteem and uplifting their well-being. There will also be community service during this week. The sports activities and events will continue throughout the week.

The third week will highlight various activities which are aimed to cater to employees’ physical well-being. During this week, several partner agencies are invited to give free medical-dental check-up, medical services such as pap smear, breast examination, VIA (visual inspection using acetic acid), tubal ligation, HIV testing, blood typing and bloodletting. During this week, several massage therapists will also give free massage and reflex sessions while some local parlors and saloons will give free manicure, pedicure and hair grooming services to employees. There will also be a free wellness check-up from a partner establishment.

The highlight of week four- the busiest week will be the championship games of all sports events and competitions. To culminate the month-long, fun-filled celebration, a closing program and awarding ceremony will be held to celebrate camaraderie and unity among clusters and teams. The crowning of the much-awaited Search for Mr. and Miss Civil Service 2015 will be gracing the culmination night. There will also be an awarding of the 10 Outstanding Employees, Department Heads and Offices during the LGU Night and a power point presentation of the month-long activity will be available for viewing.

September is the most-awaited month of the year for the City Government employees wherein they can have fun in various sports events and activities.
