 WELCOME MESSAGE

City Mayor of Valencia City

Greetings!
As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.
It is with great pleasure to welcome you all to the official website of the City of Valencia. Feel free to browse and may it answer specific need of all users.
Thank you.

City Health Office Conducts Free Prostate Cancer Screening

To honor the dads and the fathers of Valencia City, the City Health Office headed by Dr. Marlyn V. Agbayani together with the urologists Dr. Adonis Latayan and Dr. John Mark Aycayera conducted free Prostate Cancer Screening Test last June 20, 2015 at City Health Office Old Building in celebration of the Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. To raise awareness against the prostate cancer, the mountain bikers of Valencia led the motorcade from City Oval to Bagontaas to the CHO Old Building where the screening was done.

Dr. Latayan discussed the basic knowledge regarding Prostate Cancer and Prostate Cancer Screening. According to Dr. Adonis Latayan, Prostate Cancer Screening means looking for cancer before it causes symptoms. However, most prostate cancers grow slowly or not at all. The test administered is the Digital Rectal Exam (DRE): This is done to estimate the size of the prostate and feel for lumps or other abnormalities. Dr. Latayan added that different people have different symptoms for prostate cancer and some men do not have symptoms at all. Some symptoms of prostate cancer are: difficulty starting urination; weak or interrupted flow of urine; frequent urination, especially at night; difficulty emptying the bladder completely; pain or burning during urination; blood in the urine or semen; pain in the back, hips, or pelvis that doesn’t go away and painful ejaculation.

A total of 79 patients availed free prostate cancer screening. Dr. Marlyn V. Agbayani stated that this a yearly activity of the City Health Office together with the volunteer doctors Dr. Latayan and Dr. Arcayera who rendered their free services to promote their advocacy in helping raise awareness against prostate cancer.
