As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.

Valencia City Celebrates Independence 2015


For the 117th Independence Celebration, the City Government of Valencia celebrated freedom and patriotism with a twist. The Honorable City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas together with the City Officials, Heads of Local and National Agencies, City Employees, Non-government Organizations, Faith-based Organizations and People’s Organizations gathered at Plaza Rizal to commemorate this year’s celebration with the theme, “Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot-Kamay na ng Bayan.”

A motorcade from City Oval Ground to Plaza Rizal kickstarted the celebration, and a special flag-raising ceremony, 21-gun Salute by PNP Valencia City and Wreath-laying rites by the Heads of Offices. Mr. Abe P. Gillaco, the Acting City Administrator acknowledged the employees, participants and guests from different sectors, followed by the Parade of Beauties for the Search for the Best in Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog Costumes, wherein top 5 females and top 5 males were selected for the Best in Filipiniana and Barong Costumes. The best-dressed employees are: Ms. Maricel Te of City Legal Office, Ms. Jane Gonzaga of SP, Ms. Jessa Belle Luardo of CPDC, Ms. Zenith Estore of SP and Ms. Marie Queen Agonia of SP. For the Best in Tagalog Attire, the lucky winners are: Mr. Rembert Bautista of DILG, Mr. Kim Nuez of City Tourism Office, Mr. Bryan Romallosa of City Tourism, Mr. Gerald Roy Ortiz and Mr. Eduardo Pahilan of SP, respectively. Another highlight of the Kalayaan 2015 Celebration is an Oratorical Contest and the winners are: Ms. Rogelyn Villapa of SP who won the 1st Place, Ms. May Amor O. Villamor bagged the 2nd place while Mr. Josafat Caipang won the 3rd place.

The City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas stated during her speech that “Freedom starts within you. If you give freedom, you get freedom and if you give gratitude, you get gratitude.’’

The program ended with community signing, releasing of doves and balloons as symbols of freedom and a salu-salo of Filipino delicacies and native cuisines.
