Valencia City Recognizes 7 Drug-Free Barangays
The City Government of Valencia has recognized seven barangays in the city for being cleared from illegal drugs during the observance of this year’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on November 26, 2018 at the City Gymnasium and Cultural Center.
Among the drug-free barangays were the Barangay Catumbalon, Tugaya, Lourdes, Mabuhay, Concepcion, Pinatilan, and San Carlos.
Valencia City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas lauded the efforts of the seven barangays and encouraged the 24 remaining villages in the city to intensify their efforts in supporting the government’s Anti-Drug Campaign.
Huervas said that barangay officials should be aware of their responsibilities and should always be brave in implementing the programs of the government against illegal drugs.
“Usa ka dakong hagit natong tanan mga opisyales ug mga katawhan ang pagsugpo sa ilegal nga droga apan kung gusto nato nga ang atong siyudad mamahimong drug-free kinahanglan nga magtinabangay kita ug dili kita mahadlok sa pag-implementa sa mga programa ug kampanya batok ilegal nga droga,” Huervas said. (It is a big challenge for us officials and people in the city to curtail illegal drugs but if we want to become a drug-free city then we need to help one another and never be afraid in enforcing the programs and campaign against illegal drugs.)
Each barangay who received the award extended their heartfelt gratitude and was thankful for the support of the city government and other agencies for helping them throughout their journey in achieving a drug-free barangay.
