Valencia City Celebrates Oral Health Month 2018

The City Government of Valencia through the City Health Office spearheaded this year’s Oral Health Month with the theme "Ngipin ay Alagaan Mula sa Sinapupunan para sa Magandang Ngiti Hanggang Katandaan.”

Dr. Abelardo G. Rodrigo, Jr. Dentist IV and Dr. Jonathan M. Pagunsan, Dentist II of Valencia City Health Office Dental Section conducted different services to pregnant women, pre-schoolers and senior citizens in different Barangay Health Stations in the city.

For the whole month of February, CHO Dental Bus visited different barangays in the city to help promote oral health care and spread dental health awareness.

“We continue to educate the public especially the young children to value good oral health. Aside from our IEC campaign, we also conducted dental check-up, tooth brushing drill and toothbrush and toothpaste distribution, fluoride gel application and pits and fissure sealant.” Dr. Rodrigo said.

Senior citizens were also given information education, dental check-up, and oral prophylaxis.

The dental team also catered to 33 LGU employees during the Feb-ibig 2018 Activity and the employees received oral prophylaxis and information education.

Meanwhile, City Health Officer Marlyn V. Agbayani, MD said that the dental bus has greatly helped hasten the dental missions in the city.

CHO dental team has catered a total of 494 pregnant women, 588 pre-schoolers, 275 senior citizens and 33 LGU employees during the Oral Health Month 2018 celebration.

The National Oral Health Month is celebrated every month of February, pursuant to Proclamation No. 559 issued in 2004.
