Valencia City’s Plaza Rizal Kick-off Ceremony
The City Government of Valencia holds a kick-off ceremony for the improvement and renovation of the new Plaza Rizal on November 23, 2017.
The plaza will undergo a major face lift with a unique design of elevated structure and basement for parking space. With a total contracted budget of 134 million pesos, the project aims to improve the condition of the plaza and to make it a place where people gather to share moments of dispersion, enjoy nature, and sit to chat with neighbors and friends.
Mayor Azucena P. Huervas highlighted the importance of the plaza that has been serving the community as an open place where people can enjoy and bond with their family for years. “I am hoping for the success of this project as we are the first in the Philippines to have an underground parking in a Plaza,” Huervas said.
The construction of the basement as parking space will accommodate 58 vehicles for the convenience of guests and tourist. The park will also have a Children’s Playground, Senior Citizens Center, Gazebo and Dancing Fountain that will surely entertain the public.
The City Engineering Office together with the winning contractor from SCDI (Specified Contractors and Development Incorporated) is the work agent and will be responsible for the project. The start of the infrastructure and beautification for Phase I will start on December. This project will be completed within the 360 days period.
The renovation of an elevated park is a social innovation project on community development of Valencia City.
