City Mayor of Valencia City

As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.
It is with great pleasure to welcome you all to the official website of the City of Valencia. Feel free to browse and may it answer specific need of all users.
Thank you.
~City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas

Valencia City Joins 2017 National Deworming Day

The City Government of Valenciathroughthe City Health Office and the Department of Health Regional Office Xtogether with the Department of Education (DepEd)Valencia City, join the country’s National School-Based Deworming Day- Harmonized Mass Drug Administration (MDA) for Soil-Transmitted Helminthiasis on July 6-7, 2017.

A motorcade from City Health Office to Valencia City Central School kicked off the activity at 7:30 AM which was participated by CHO personnel, DepEd, Barangay Officials, and Stakeholders.

During the opening program at Valencia City Central School Covered Court, Dr. Juniver G. Flores, MD, MPH, EMT, Medical Officer IV and Head of the Epidemiology Surveillance and Research Division explained the rationale and the importance of deworming in relation to the mental performance of the child.

“If a child is not dewormed, the child would be weak and unresponsive. Through taking deworming drugs, a child will be more alert, enthusiastic and can be more responsive in learning,” Dr. Flores said. He also added that Valencia City is lucky to have been provided by DOH with free deworming drugs.

Meanwhile, Ms. Karen D. Joromo, Legal Assistant II,who spoke in behalf of the City Administrator, Atty. Genaro C. Cadigal, Jr. said that eliminating the worms is very essential in the growth and development of a child, together with proper hygiene and sanitation.

Ms. Isabel I. Casilang, OIC of DepEd Valencia City said that DepEd is thankful for the usual support of the City Health Office and DOH X and their doors are always open for all programs for the children of the city.

City Health Officer Dr. Marlyn V. Agbayani said the deworming activity is done yearly every July (first round) and January (second round) to reduce the prevalence of soil transmitted helminthiasis among school children in the elementary and secondary level in all public and private schools.

During the activity, personnel from City Health Office together with the teachers and stakeholders unified as children from Valencia City Central Elementary School and Valencia National Highschool conducted a simultaneous hand-washing, feeding, and mass drug administration of Albendazole 400mg tablet and Mebendazole 500mg.

Round 1 Deworming of school children is done every July and round 2 is done every January of the following year.

Valencia City has 100% accomplishment in school-based deworming programs since 2015.
