Valenciano Golfer Bags Place in USA Golf Tournament
A young Valenciano golfer brought honor and pride to the city after winning 3rd Place during the 31st Annual PGA Minority Collegiate Championship women’s category on May 13, 2017, at Florida, United States of America.
Rainstar I. Roque was an honor student of Bukidnon Faith Christian School during high school. She is now a freshman Biology student of Chicago State University (CSU) and is making a name in the field of golf.
Roque is the leading player of her team who gained a score of 76 in the first round of the tournament, adding another score of 78 in the second round which made her gained a total score of 154.
On the second day of the competition, Roque carded a score of 78 which made CSU produced a total score of 621 which included a posting of 308 in the second round and was four strokes behind North Carolina A & T for third place.
Roque on her high school years competed in a Golf Tournament representing Bukidnon Faith Christian School, shot a 145 (71-74) to win the 2015 IJGA-CDGA Junior Amateur and also won the IJGA POY Championship after carding a 149 (74-75).
A resolution was passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod to give recognition to the achievement of Roque for bringing honor to the city, not just in the Philippines but also internationally.
The Local Government Unit of Valencia City acknowledged the good example set forth by Roque as a competitive young athlete who aspires herself towards sports and athletic events.
Roque is the well-raised daughter of Starlyn Ann and Valencia City Councilor Ramir P. Roque.
