The City Government of Valencia showed support in this year’s national observance of Brigada Eskwela with the theme “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan.”
Brigada Eskwela is the National Schools’ Maintenance Week that aims to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to prepare public school facilities ready for the opening of the School Year in June.
To signal the start of Brigada Eskwela, DepEd Valencia conducted a kick-off ceremony at Valencia City Central School on May 12, 2017 which was participated by students, teachers, school officials, parents, community members, local government officials and employees, non-government organizations, church groups, stakeholders and the private sector.
Mr. Abe P. Gillaco, City Government Department Head of HRMO, graced the event to give a message in behalf of City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas.
Gillaco said that the city government through the leadership of Mayor Huervas has been actively supporting and participating Brigada Eskwela.
The city government on the other hand, coordinated with DepEd Division Office to participate the six-day implementation of Brigada Eskwela in some elementary and secondary schools in the city from May 15 to 20.
A memorandum order was released by the City Mayor’s Office encouraging all LGU employees to join the said activities to provide assistance and support to public schools.
BrigadaEskwela has become one of the major initiatives of DepEd in enjoining local communities to respond to the needs of public schools and be part of a nationwide effort towards improving Philippine basic education.
