Valencia City Gymnasium to Get Major Facelift
After 22- years, the Valencia City Gymnasium will now get a major facelift.
The city government will retrofit the old city gymnasium making it compliant with the standards set by the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA).
This means that the city gym can soon ascribed to host national and international sporting events and tournaments.
The upgraded gymnasium will comfortably sit 2,500 seaters with building design that was further enhanced by J-Bros Construction Corporation, the winning contractor joint ventured with Nation Star Development Corporation.
In a kick-off and groundbreaking ceremony held on April 24, 2017, City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas extended her gratitude to all who lend their support to make the project possible.
Huervas was confident for the success of the project and was hopeful that the upgraded gymnasium will soon be useful to the constituents of the city and for the next generation.
City Councilor Camillo E. Pepito, Vice Chair of the Committee on Infrastructure, said that the project will make the people of Valencia proud.
Pepito also highlighted their trust and satisfaction to J-Bros Construction Corporation, who once helped build the City Public Market.
In a press conference held after the ceremony, Engr. Alejandro Tenco, President of J-Bros Construction Corporation, highlighted some features of the gymnasium.
He said that the upgraded gymnasium will be air conditioned and will install state of the art facilities such as hardwood floors, fiber glass chairs, roof insulation, locker rooms, toilets, emergency exits, fire protection, CCTV, sound and generator system.
“The existing gymnasium was unfinished. What we are building now is an international standard gym,” Tenco said.
The P223 million loan government project is among the flagship projects of Valencia City under the administration of Mayor Huervas.
