Huervas Leads Turnover and Acceptance Ceremony of PWS Projects
Valencia City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas, led the turnover and acceptance ceremony of the Potable Water System (PWS) and other projects under the Buttom-Up-Budgeting (BUB) program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at Barangay Maapag on April 17, 2017.
According to Huervas, other barangays including Tongan-Tongan, Pinatilan, Mabuhay, Dagat-Kidavao, and Catumbalon will also benefit from the said project.
The P9. 5 million PWS phase 2 project will help sustain the needs of the people and provide safe water to residents living in the said areas.
“We are grateful that Valencia City is one of the recipients of this projects,” said Huervas, adding that everything was realized through the support and collaborative effort of the officials, the DILG and the Valencia City Water District (VCWD).
Ma. Socorro R. Paluga, VCWD General Manager, said the water district was able to lay around 26,540 cubic meter and currently have 1500 concessioners being served in barangay Maapag.
“This is a very important project of LGU together with VCWD to answer the call of sustainable goals especially on the waterless areas in the country,” Paluga said.
Bruce A. Colao, Provincial DILG Director, graced the event and congratulated the city government for its effort to bring to the communities the needed projects such as the provision of water system.
Other projects were also turned over during the ceremony: (1) the 2013 phase 1 BUB project which is the distribution and installation of pipelines to 4 targets barangays worth P4.7 million pesos; (2) Construction of Slope Protection at Cabanuangan and Barangay Poblacion; and (3) purchase of 4 Units Motor Vehicle and 2 Units Motorcycle under the Performance Challenge Fund from the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
