National Library of the Philippines Affiliates 6 Barangay Libraries of Valencia City

Six more Barangay Libraries in Valencia City are now affiliated with the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), the City Library Office reported.

Out of 31 barangays in the city only 3 were still on the process for affiliation.

According to NLP survey, only the City of Valencia has the majority number of barangays affiliated to NLP throughout the Philippines.

The newly affiliated public libraries namely Barangay Mabuhay, Lumbayao, Lurugan, Concepcion, Lumbo, and Lourdes have received initial allocation of resources which include books, e-resources and a set of computer.

Ms. Aine Q. Mecisamente, City Librarian, said that the newly affiliated barangays were lucky as the National Library of the Philippines included them to receive this year’s budget for book allocation amounting to P 400,050 (Four Hundred Thousand and Fifty Pesos).

The designated Librarians of the said libraries have undergone a 3-day orientation and training at NLP last November 16-18, 2016.

All affiliated Public Barangay Libraries of this city have recently received 6 boxes of new books from United States of America through the L. Ron Hubbard Bridge Publication last September 2016.

The annual book allocation from National Library will also be received on next year’s annual National Conference to be held at Davao City on March 14-17, 2017.

The NLP is hopeful that there will be more LGUs that will be enticed to establish and affiliate their libraries with the NLP to achieve quality education and provide knowledge to all sectors of the community.
