Valencia City Kicks Off 116th Civil Service Anniversary

Valencia City, Sept. 2, 2016 (PIO) - The City Government of Valencia has successfully spearheaded the opening program of the 116th Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit Para Sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani, at Kalikasan”.

The month-long celebration aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism in public service anchored on the concept of "malasakit" or compassion with action for health, the environment, deserving public servants, and the Filipino public who are the clients of government service offices.

City Councilor Edwardo D. Chan, Committee Chair on Civil Service and Laws, welcomed the participants and gave his support to the celebration. According to him, the kind of celebration helps promote heroism and camaraderie in public service.

Mayor Azucena P. Huervas, in her speech, said that the celebration also help ensure the transformation of every government employee into a “lingkod bayani”.

“Our people demand and expect nothing less from us in the government but excellent quality of addressing the concerns of our people and see to it that their economic and social needs are met,” Huervas said.

Huervas added that all local government employees must always keep a harmonious relationship with their colleagues and never forget their responsibility as a public servant.

Lourdes B. Pelaez, Acting Director II of CSC Bukidnon Field Office, gave thanks to the city government for its unwavering support to the programs of the Civil Service Commission and for spearheading such event that will boost the self-esteem and morale of the government employees.

Moreover, one of the highlights in the celebration is the lighting of cauldron which was headed by Mayor Huervas to signal the opening of the sport events.

All LGU Offices, National Offices, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations, Partner Agencies and Institutions are joining the month-long celebration. The Teams are arranged as follows:

Cluster 1 – Team Brainiacs: (City Mayor’s Office, Negosyo Center, City Library, City Tourism, City Nutrition, City Traffic and Management Office, Brgy. Affairs Office, ASO, City Sports and CADAC)

Cluster 2 – Team Fire Proof: (Sangguniang Panlungsod Office)

Cluster 3 – Team Busy Bees: (City Economic Enterprise Office)

Cluster 4 – Team Dynamo: (City Engineering Office, City Treasurer’s Office, City Cooperative Office, City Agriculture Office and City Legal Office)

Cluster 5 – Team Fury: (City Accounting Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Assessor’s Office and City Health Office)

Cluster 6 – Team Zyphers: (City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Bids and Awards Committee, City Budget Office, Human Resource and Management Office, City General Services Office, CDRRMC and City Civil Registrar’s Office)

Cluster 7 – Team Royal Thunders: (City Administrator’s Office, Public Information Office, Public Employment Services Office, Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Task Force, CVO, and CSWD)

Cluster 8 – Team White Lightning: (PAO, DILG, Parole, COMELEC, MTCC, Prosecutor’s Office, PNP, BJMP, BFP, LTO, DAR and BIR)

Cluster 9 – Team Flying Boomerangs: (Department of Education)

Cluster 10 – Team Masterminds: (Valencia City Water District)

Cluster 11 – Team Lucky Charms: (National Irrigation Administration)

Cluster 12 – Team Cherry Bombs: (German Doctors, PhilHealth, and SSS)

Cluster 13 – Team Defenders: (FIBECO)

A cheer dance competition was also spearheaded where employees from the different offices shared their talents on dancing.

The Cluster 5 – Team Fury was named as the champion of the competition followed by Cluster 9 - Team Flying Boomerangs who won as the 1st runner-up, Cluster 2 – Team Fire Proof as 2nd runner-up, Cluster 11 – Team Lucky Charms as 3rd runner-up and Cluster 6 – Team Zyphers as 4th runner-up.

Special awards were also given to the clusters that excelled and actively supported the event.

The Most Active and Organized Award were given to Cluster 2 – Team Fire Proof while the Most Colorful and United Award were given to Cluster 3 –Team Busy Bees. Cluster 5 – Team Fury also celebrated as they bagged the Best in Costume and Props.

The celebration of the Civil Service Anniversary will be divided into different activities per week that will focus more on sports and employees’ welfare.
