As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.

Valencia City Holds Public Hearing for the Proposed Fish Landing

The City Government of Valencia held a public hearing for the proposed fish landing at Barangay Bagontaas on July 25, 2016.

The hearing is part of the protocol prior to the passage of the proposed project and construction of the fish landing in Bagontaas, Valencia City.

Valencia City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas said that public hearing is important for them to know the concerns of the public and the sector involved. She also said that the hearing will serve as a way to know the advantages and disadvantages of the project.

Mayor Huervas stated that the project will be constructed within the City Abattoir in the said barangay to expand development in the area.

"Our plan for development does not limit at the center of the city," Huervas said adding that there is a need to expand and make use of the available resources of the city to attain development.

Hon. Rosenda Berou, Punong Barangay of Bagontaas, extended her gratitude to the city government for having such project which will be beneficial for the people in their barangay.

"We are glad that the project will be constructed in our barangay as it will help generate jobs for the people of Barangay Bagontaas," Berou said.

Further, one of the concerns of the public that was raised during the hearing is the safety of the residents living near the area.

City Councilor Hon. Camilo P. Pepito, Chairman on Committee on Land Use and Environment Protection and Natural Resources, assured the public that the project will be environmental friendly and is not harmful to the people.

"It is our duty to protect our environment and ensure the safety of the public," Pepito said adding that the proposed fish landing has a complete facility and will comply all necessary procedures with the standards based from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Mr. Rex Doongan , Environment Management Specialist II of the City Environment and Natural Resources also discussed the proper disposal of wastes and water management.

Doongan said that the disposal of water waste will undergo a process of cleansing before dropping in water canals. This is to make sure that the water is safe and not dangerous for the health of the people and the environment.

After hours of deliberation, the public expressed their satisfaction about the plan of the city government and later on voted for the approval of the proposed construction of fish landing.

The program was also graced by different officials and department heads including Barangay Councilors Hon. Corazon C. Caganan and Hon. Teresita D. Cabahog, Acting City Planning Officer Mr. Bernaldo L. Obuta, Economic Enterprise Officer Mr. Ariel Cabingas, City Veterinarian Dr. Samuel A. Medidas, City Health Officer Dr. Marlyn V. Agbayani and Engineer Rodina B. Onting of City Engineers Office.
