City Mayor of Valencia City

As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.
It is with great pleasure to welcome you all to the official website of the City of Valencia. Feel free to browse and may it answer specific need of all users.
Thank you.
~City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas

Valencia City Bantay Asin Task Force Conducts 2nd Regular Meeting

The Valencia City Nutrition Office spearheaded the 2nd regular meeting on Bantay Asin Task Force on May 4, 2016.

The agenda of the meeting focused on the drafting of ordinance for the intensification of the distribution, retailing and the use of iodized salt in the city and providing of penalties for violations.

All the information gathered for the creation of the proposed ordinance is still subject for endorsement and approval to the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Also tackled is the proposed creation of special working committee and their functions in a form of Executive Order. This committee will serve as the team for implementation of iodized salt monitoring in different areas in the city.

Ms. Hazel B. Dondonayos, City Nutrition Action Officer, chaired the meeting in behalf of the Chairperson City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas and noted the suggestions and amendments from each of the members. She also sighted the importance of Bantay Asin Task Force as this will help protect and promote the right of the people to health and utilization of iodized salt in the city.

Dondonayos said that as people can buy salt in a cheaper price it is also important that they should consider its nutritional value.

People are advised to buy iodized salts as this will help prevent cases of iodine deficiency in the country.

Furthermore, an action plan was also conducted for the preparation of the Bantay Asin Task Force activities.

The Valencia City Bantay Task Force ensures to exercise its duties and function by promoting full and effective implementation of the "ASIN" Law or the Republic Act 8172 and sustainability of the program in the city.
