Valencia City Culminates Summer Sports Clinic
The Valencia City Sports Office awarded medals and certificates of completion to the young athletes in the city during the culmination of the summer sports clinic on April 29, 2016 at the City Gymnasium.
A total of 765 young participants aged 8-14 years old attended the 10-day training and workshop.
As part of the closing program, the young athletes showcased their skills and moves to their parents who also cheered and support their children.
Valencia City Vice Mayor Rolando P. Laviña attended the event and congratulated the children as they were able to improve themselves in the field of sports.
"I am glad to see young children full of passion and love for sports," said Vice Mayor Laviña adding that parents should continue to encourage their children be involved in such activities for them to develop and improve their skills.
City Councilor Hon. John Lee B. Quillo, Chairman of Committee on Sports also graced the event and highlighted the importance of the training program. He said the summer sports clinic is part of the developmental program of the city that benefits the young populace.
"It is very overwhelming to see the achievements of our young athletes and I do hope that this will serve as an avenue for them to become successful athletes someday," Quillo added.
The Valencia City Government’s Summer Sports Clinic is an annual program designed by the City Sports Office to encourage school children to enjoy their summer vacation by learning various sports events- Karatedo, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Volleyball Men, Volleyball Women, Boxing, Football and Sepak Takraw.
