The Provincial Government of Bukidnon headed by Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri Jr. spearheaded the distribution of calamity assistance to the affected families in Valencia City on March 18, 2016.

The province of Bukidnon already declared state of calamity due to El Niño and has the largest number of affected families with farmers, laborers and forest workers in Northern Mindanao.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Bukidnon together with the Valencia City Social Welfare and Development Office headed the distribution of one sack of rice and food packs per affected family.

Ms. Maribeth Galila, Admin Assistant of PSWD Bukidnon, said that the assistance is a response from the provincial government to help the drought victims who are experiencing food scarcity.

Galila stressed that their priority is to serve all those who are affected particularly the indigent families.

Ms. Vicky Lyn A. Duron, Acting City Social Welfare and Development Officer, said that a record of 3,000 beneficiaries will receive the rice and food assistance from the Provincial Government. She added that barangay Poblacion has the largest number of recipients compared to other barangay.
