The members of the City Nutrition Committee and the Technical Working Group together with the Nutriland Project Management Team and the employees of the City Government of Valencia conducted Bayanihan sa Nutriland on March 15, 2016 at Nutriland Site, Valencia City.

The Nutriland is a 2.5 hectare lot situated at Purok 2, Pinatilan, Valencia City, Bukidnon which is aimed to provide avenue for nutritional programs of the city. The Nutriland is the future pride of Valencia City for best practices in Nutrition.

To instill camaraderie, friendship and unity among stakeholders, Valencia City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas led the Bayanihan together with City Councilor Hon. Policarpo P. Murillo, IV, MD and the local stakeholders.

“The Nutriland is the realization of the dream of the City Nutrition Committee after Valencia City garnered the second year CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) Award as this will showcase the good practices of the city’s nutrition programs,” Mayor Huervas said.

The Nutriland will soon cater to the needs of the impoverished and undernourished families of the city, Hon. Policarpo P. Murillo, IV, MD said. “Nutriland was conceptualized when around 418 malnourished families were identified, and through the nutrition facilities, malnourished families will be rehabilitated and malnutrition in the City will be addressed properly, Dr. Murillo added.

Ms. Hazel P. Dondonayos, RND, MGA, City Nutrition Action Officer said that Nutri-huts, Nutri-training center and other improvement will soon complete the facility. “We are thankful for the strong support of our City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas for spearheading this activity. The dream of the City Nutrition Committee is now being realized as improvements are now visible and the vegetables are readily available,” Ms. Dondonayos added.

A total of 110 participants joined the bayanihan and shared the boodle fight during lunch sponsored by the City Nutrition Committee.
