KALIPI Valencia Successfully Holds Quarterly Meeting and Induction of Officers
In cognizance of Women’s Month Celebration, the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office successfully holds its first quarterly meeting and induction of federation's officer at DRV Family Resort on March 11, 2016.
KALIPI is a federation of women's organization developed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development to the local government units to support and empower women.
Discussed in the meeting are the preparations for the upcoming KALIPI convention on April and the proper usage of the capital assistance given by the local government.
The meeting proper was moderated by Ms. Theresa A. Barola, KALIPI Federation President, together with the staff of City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Acting CSWD Officer, Ms. Vicky Lyn C. Acuesta-Duron.
On the other hand, City Councilor Helen T. Bernal, Chairperson, Committee on Women, welcomed the participants and discussed the importance of livelihood programs and skills training conducted for all women in the city.
Hon. Bernal said that the local government is always open to render services that will support the rights of women.
Ms. Vicky Lyn A. Duron, Acting City Social Welfare and Development Officer, encouraged the participants to always fight for their rights and to never stop educating themselves.
Furthermore, Valencia City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas, headed the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of federation officers and the giving of capital assistance to the KALIPI officers from each barangay.
Hon. Huervas said that the assistance will be of great help for the KALIPI members in starting their own businesses and projects. Each barangay received capital assistance amounting to six thousand pesos (P6,000.00)
Mayor Huervas also encouraged the participants to stay active and always empower themselves.
“March is Women’s Month and the city government will always find ways in acknowledging the roles and advocacies of women in our society,” Mayor Huervas said.
The KALIPI officers of each barangay also shared their accomplishment report during the meeting and assured that they will continue to improve themselves and promote women's development and empowerment.
