Young Valenciano Chosen as Philippine Youth Ambassador to Asean-Korean FOYEP





Young Efren Leo John V. Aribal, 23, a resident of Brgy. Lumbo, Valencia City was chosen as one of the Philippine Youth Ambassadors to ASEAN-Korea Future Oriented Youth Exchange Program (FOYEP) held at Seoul, Korea last January 27-February 02, 2016.

Aribal was chosen with six other ambassadors, the lone representative from Mindanao, and was chosen as the National Leader of the Philippine Youth Delegation. “I feel so blessed that I was chosen among the hundreds of applicants. Bonus was being the National Leader (NL) and I’m so proud as a Mindanaoan who led the PH Delegation,” Aribal added.

The PH delegation won the major award, the 2016 BEST ASEAN-Korea Booth, “I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Mayor Azucena Huervas and Ms. Mary Lonna Buenafe who gave a very warm support and for providing me souvenir items and materials that greatly contributed in our winning. I would like also to thank the City Tourism Office for providing me our Bukidnon Attire that I wore during the National Attire Fashion Show”. The PH delegation was also awarded as the 2nd Runner-Up in the National Attire Fashion Show.

“There is so much beauty in cultural exchanges. As ASEAN, we are one, that is why youth’s participation in international relations and diplomacy is very important as we are the next prime movers of ASEAN and Asia,” Aribal shared. He was chosen to represent the entire ASEAN International delegation to deliver farewell and appreciation speech.

The program invited 101 youths from ASEAN nations and Korea to present their cultures and history through cultural exchange. Participants were given the opportunity to be inspired and motivated to formulate the future, building a great foundation of Pan-Asian community in the global society. The host of the program was the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) and were sponsored by ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Aribal graduated Cum Laude and Debater of the Year from Mindanao State University- Marawi Main Campus with a degree Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies. He is finishing his master’s degree in English and is currently a professor and Chief Public Relations and Information Officer of Central Mindanao University.
