197 Valencianos Finish TESDA Reflex Massage Training

Valencia City- 197 residents from Brgy. Concepcion, Guinuyuran, Poblacion, Valencia National High School and Banlag Integrated School received their Certificates of Training during the Graduation Ceremony on February 3, 2016 at the City Hall Covered Court, Valencia City.

The Reflexology and Massage Therapy Training is a community-based training education facilitated by the City Government of Valencia through the City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas and the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by City Vice Mayor. Hon. Rolando P. Laviña in coordination with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

City Vice Mayor Hon. Rolando P. Laviña congratulated the graduates and thanked them for availing the services offered by the City Government of Valencia. “We are encouraging the participants to avail similar opportunities given freely by the government as this could help us in our daily needs,” Vice Mayor Laviña said.

Ms. Vera May Eunice D. Zamora, Community Training and Employment Coordinator Designate of PESO Valencia City presented the candidates while Engr. Heponey T. Villanueva, Senior Test Specialist Admin Head of TESDA Provincial Office Bukidnon who attended in behalf of Gil Arsenio Q. Factura, OIC-Provincial Director confirmed the graduates.

During his message, he emphasized the importance of having a certificate in Massage and Reflex as it can greatly aid in earning for a living. “The Skills Training provided by TESDA is such a big advantage as it can provide them with livelihood and skills training that are beneficial in augmenting income sources. The training consists of a course designed to complement the skills, knowledge and attitudes of massage therapists in accordance with industry standards,” Mr. Factura said.

Mr. Feliciano O. Mayagma, facilitator and trainer of the Reflex Massage Training said that they are thankful to the City Government of Valencia for offering this training as it can greatly help the barangay health workers, out-of-school youth as well as teachers who would need this training especially in the K-12 program of the government.

“Out-of-school youth can benefit from this program since they have no income; BHWs need this training for their work while teachers need this exercise in their preparation for K-12 program,” Mayagma said.

Ms. Nena Caderao, a participant from Brgy. Concepcion in her testimony said that she is very grateful to LGU Valencia for letting them acquire the skills needed in pursuing reflexology and massage therapy. “It is very overwhelming that we have finally finished the training. This skill we have acquired is a treasure and we should not take this for granted for this will help us in our daily needs,” Caderao said.

Meanwhile, Acting City Administrator Abe P. Gillaco, MPA who spoke in behalf of the City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas said that the City Government of Valencia in its continuous efforts in helping develop the constituents will always finds ways and means to help alleviate the living conditions of the people by providing income-generating programs.

Mr. Romeo L. Bayaten, also a trainor of the Reflex Massage Training, in his message remarks he emphasized the big role LGU is portraying in changing the lives of the participants. “Now that we have acquired the basics skills in reflexology and massage, we will utilize it to help our family and our community,” Mr. Bayaten said.

Meanwhile, City Councilor Hon. Policarpo P. Murillo, IV, MD in his closing remarks he said that the city government is thankful to the graduates for finishing the training. He also emphasized that since Valencia City has no public hospital, the City Government is willing to accept students who would wish to pursue medicine.

The Reflex Massage Training was conducted in different barangays in Valencia City since April 2015 and all 197 graduates successfully completed the Community-based Training in Reflexology and Massage Application Leading to Massage Therapy NC II Certificate from TESDA.
