Valencia City farmers receive rice seeds and fertilizer assistance
The provincial government of Bukidnon headed by the Provincial Governor Hon. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri, Jr., together with the local government of Valencia City, once again facilitated the distribution of seeds and fertilizer assistance to the drought-affected farmers in the city on November 9, 2015 at the city gymnasium.
This time the recipients received one sack of rice and two sacks of fertilizers. Last September 21, 2015, farmers with damaged corn crops already received free corn seeds and fertilizers.
The giving of assistance is part of the government's way of helping the farmers to easily recover from their loss that caused by the continued effect of long dry spell.
With the expected number of 506 recipients more than 300 farmers from the different barangay received the assistance.
Governor Zubiri said that all seeds and fertilizers are for free and that another batch of rice seeds and fertilizers will be distributed on the upcoming days.
He also clarified that the giving of rice seeds was not joined during the distribution of corn seeds due to some problem of it's availability. He added that the provincial government will always find ways to fully serve the farmers.
Mayor Azucena P. Huervas also expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Governor and to the Provincial Agriculture Office for the support they lend for the farmers of Valencia City.
The event was also graced by Vice Mayor Rolando P. Laviña, City Councilor Hon. Glenn P. Peduche, Hon. Helen T. Bernal Hon. Rodrigo A. Rosal, and City Agriculturist Connie L. Dalangan.
