As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.

Valencia City Hosts Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration

The City Government of Valencia through the City Cooperative Office headed by Mr. Hipolito B. Ucang, Jr. hosted the Provincial Cooperative Development Council Centennial Celebration with the theme “Kooperatiba: Ika – 100 Taong Pagpupugay, Tulay sa Maunlad na Buhay” at SAIT Gymnasium, Valencia City on October 27, 2015.

The event started with a motorcade followed by a Eucharistic Mass which was attended by the different cooperatives with their members in the whole province of Bukidnon. The aim of the celebration is to raise the awareness and understanding of the public on the importance of cooperatives.

Ms. Cristina H. Villamil, OIC-Regional Director of Cooperative Development Authority Region 10 gave an inspirational message to the members and discussed relevant information on the functions, advantages and privileges of cooperatives. She even sighted the celebration as a significant year against poverty and a way to promote cooperativism in the consciousness of the public and its contribution to social, economic development and nation-building.

The event was also graced by Acting City Administrator Abe P. Gillaco, who attended in behalf of City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas. He welcomed the participants and extended his gratitude in celebrating cooperative month in the city.

Mr. Gillaco said that being the center of trade and commerce in Bukidnon, the city of Valencia is always open to extend its support to the cooperatives. He also gladly announced that the City Mayor approved the passage of an ordinance allocating funds worth five hundred thousand pesos (P500,000.00) for the Valencia City Cooperative Council.

On the other hand, City Councilor Rolando D. Centillas Jr., Chairman on Labor and Cooperative who also joined to support the event, encouraged the members of the cooperatives to always speak up to be heard. He added that the cooperatives should always stay active as it helps contribute to sustainable economic development and nation-building.

Furthermore, the event also became more fun through different activities such as games, quiz bowl and raffle draw.

The cooperative month is celebrated throughout the nation every October.
