City Mayor of Valencia City

As my call to serve and lead the people of the City of Valencia, it is a challenge for me to make the city more progressive. First and foremost, to be able to attain it, I ensure that the employees of the City Government of Valencia serve the people in excellence as true public servants.
Among the many steps I took during my administration, I am encouraged to create a functional website to foster transparency. It is a tool to provide better services to all sectors in the community and it will also encourage public participation. The ultimate aim of this website is that eventually it will become a channel to facilitate business transactions efficiently using secured electronic payment systems.
It is with great pleasure to welcome you all to the official website of the City of Valencia. Feel free to browse and may it answer specific need of all users.
Thank you.

City Government of Valencia Spearheads 4th Farmers Month Celebration

Highlighting the importance of the farmers in the development of agriculture industry of the city, the City Agriculture Office headed by Ms. Connie L. Dalangan, Acting City Agriculture spearheads the 4th Farmers Month Celebration with the theme, “Mag-uuma Magtambayayong, Kinaiyahan Panggaon aron Kalambuan Maangkon Taliwala sa Hagit sa Panahon,” (Farmers Working Together, Loving Mother Nature to Achieve Progress Despite the Challenge of Times) on October 26-27, 2015 at the City Hall Covered Court, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

Farmers from the 31 barangays showcased their local farm produce as they joined the Float Parade during the 1st Day of the celebration. Each float was creatively designed to display the farm products from their respective barangays. Diverse fruits, vegetables, root crops, flowers, seedlings, and local delicacies were exhibited for judging and were later sold in a minimal amount.

During the program, Ms. Connie L. Dalangan, Acting City Agriculturist acknowledged and thanked the Barangay Officials and Functionaries, farmers, Rural Improvement Club Members, 4H Club Members for actively participating in the celebration. “We are greatly honored for your never-ending efforts in continuing to provide high-valued crops and agricultural products to our city and the City Government of Valencia through our very supportive Local Chief Executive Hon. Azucena P. Huervas prepared this celebration to highlight your importance in making our city the City of Golden Harvest.” She said.

During his welcome remarks, Hon. Camilo E. Pepito, City Councilor and the Chairman of Committee of Agriculture welcomed the participants for joining the celebration. He emphasized the importance of every farmer for tilling the land, cultivating the soil, and enduring the heat of the sun for consumers to have food in the table. “Agriculture is the backbone of our society and it sustains human life,” Hon. Pepito said.

Meanwhile, the guest speaker, Dr. Carolina D. Amper, Dean of the College of Agriculture of Central Mindanao University, in her message, she emphasized the importance of organic farming. According to Dr. Amper, the national government has mandated the Department of Agriculture to allot funds to promote the organic agriculture programs in the country and the Philippines ranked low in the entire world in terms of organic farming. “The trend towards healthier lifestyle continues to become more common and the interest in organic farming is gaining popularity,” she added.

City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas, during her message congratulated the City Agriculture Office for spearheading a very relevant celebration for the farmers of Valencia City, and as a farmer herself, she knows the pains and agony of waiting for crops to flourish and survive until harvest time. She also encouraged the farmers to continue organic farming since consuming non-organic food is becoming more hazardous to human health.

“Valencia City is the center of trade and industry in our Province, and as an agricultural city, the City Government continuous its mission to support the agriculture industry for we are known of marketing organic rice in the region,” she said.

The Honorable Mayor also showcased the newly-acquired farm machineries (3 tractors) from DA RFO X with counterpart from the City Government of Valencia for the exclusive use of the City Agriculture Office and the farmers in the city.

To add more fun and festivity to the celebration, the City Agriculture Office also spearheaded Farmers Month Contest and the winners are:
