Tech Challenge
Digital Poster Making Contest
RATIONALE: Digital Poster Making Contest is a competition of original digital artwork created using Adobe Photoshop.
CONTEST MECHANICS
- The LGU Valencia - ICT Digital Poster Making Contest competition is open to Grade 10-12 High School Students both public and private schools within Valencia City with one (1) participant per school. The participant should be officially enrolled this S.Y. 2018 – 2019 in the school they are representing.
- Only 15 slots are available. Registration is first come first serve basis.
- Software: The software to be used is Adobe Photoshop.
- The competition will run for four (4) hours which includes the creation of the Digital Artwork and the Artist Statement of Originality — this is an explanation in 300 words or less describing what inspired the artwork.
- Participants must be in the competition venue 30 minutes before the competition proper – 8:30 AM
- Each participant will be provided a workstation with the installed software (Adobe Photoshop). Participants will also be provided clean sheet of paper to write down their explanation about their artwork. By 8:00 AM, all participants should be settled for the short orientation. At exactly 8:30 AM, the competition will start.
- The theme for the competition will be revealed during the competition proper.
- The use of input devices other than a mouse is not allowed. The use of flash drive is strictly prohibited.
- Participants are prohibited to use other computer units. (e.g. personal laptops)
- Participants are advised to constantly save their entries in case of power interruption.
- No downloaded images can be integrated in the artwork since it should be all original. Everything in the artwork should be from scratch. The use of stacked/library images is also not allowed.
- There should only be two (2) applications running during the competition proper, namely Adobe Photoshop and Notepad. A participant caught running applications other than the allowed will be imposed with a one (1) point deduction per judge.
- After the briefing/orientation of the competition, a one (1) point deduction per judge per 5 minutes will be imposed for late comers. Only a maximum of thirty (30) minutes is allowed for late comers, more than that time equates disqualification.
- Document format:
- resolution = 300dpi,
- width = 18inches
- height = 24 inches
- orientation = Portrait orientation
- Color mode = RGB
Note: No names or distinguishing marks on the entry. Failure to follow the image specification of output image will be imposed with a five (5) point deduction per judge.
- Save the image with the following information:
- School initial_Surname_ParticipantNo.jpg.

- Note: When exporting the image to JPEG, make sure that the compression is 0 (zero compression) or set JPEG options Quality to Maximum (12).
- When done with the artwork, write the Report of Creativity using Notepad. Save the text with the following information:

- By 12:30PM all artworks and Report of Creativity must be done and saved. Evaluation by three (3) qualified judges will commence at this time.
- A participant may be disqualified by the competition committee for any activity that jeopardizes the contest such as dislodging extension cords, unauthorized modification of contest materials, or distracting behavior.
- Winners will be announced on June 29,2018. The result once announced is final and irrevocable.
Infographics Contest
RATIONALE: An infographic is a visual way to display data or information that makes it easy to understand at a glance. It can take the form of a chart, diagram, or illustration, and usually involves minimal text.

Film Making Contest
CONTEST MECHANICS
- The LGU Valencia - ICT Film Making Contest competition is open to all participants who resides in the Valencia City only.
- Only 10 slots are available. The first 10 confirmed Team will be the Official Participants. Confirmation will be through phone call.
- Teams not included in the list of Official Participants will be included in the Waiting List in case of any disqualification and/or withdrawal from competition. Priority is based on online registration.
- The Team is composed of three (3) members only.
- The registration will indicate the names of the Team.
- If a team must withdraw from the competition, it has to be expressed in writing not later than June 18, 2018.
- By signing the Registration Form, the participants agree to abide by the rules of the competition and the film guidelines and by the decision of the panel of judges.
- The LGU Valencia - ICT Division reserves the right to disqualify any team who fails to comply with the competition rules and film guidelines.
- LGU Valencia - ICT Division may amend the rules of the competition at any time with proper information-dissemination to all participants.
- The competition will run for nine (9) hours which includes eight (7) hours of film shooting/ editing and two (2) hours editing/rendering.
- Participants must be in the competition venue 30 minutes before the competition proper – 9:00 AM
- The final copy of the film entry must be submitted not later than June 22, 2018 not later than 5:00 PM. Failure to submit on time is subject to point deduction (1 point per minute). Entries submitted beyond 5:30PM is considered disqualified
- All clips/videos/images to be used in the film should be taken on the day of the competition.
- The Participating Team will provide their own PC/Laptop for editing and rendering of the film.
- Editing and Rendering of the Film should be done at the venue’s designated area.
- The use of any video-editing software is allowed. However, the use of templates, and other pre-made plugins, LUT, etc. is not allowed.
- All creative endeavors including but not limited to: scriptwriting, directing, shooting, editing, and musical scoring should be done by the team members. If creative endeavors of the film are done by somebody not part of the registered team member, the film is disqualified to join the competition.
- The film must at least be three (3) minutes long but not longer than five (5) minutes in duration, including opening and closing credits.
- Films need not be in English however, subtitling in English is highly encouraged.
- Any type of video camera or DSLR cameras capable of filming may be used. Animation and computer graphics are also permitted.
- The film must be submitted in .MP4 format and must play using standard film/video programs such as Windows Media Player and VLC Player.
- Save the video with the following information:
- Film-Title_Team-Name_Team-No.mp4.

- Filename: Akong Bidyu _Daog _01. mp4
- Usage of pre-recorded music is allowed but these should be acknowledged in the credits of the film. It is however encouraged that, teams come up with original musical scoring.
