PREPARING FOR SGLG AWARD NUMBER SIX. The SGLG Core Group headed by City Mayor Azucena "Sunny" P. Huervas conducted its review and evaluation of criteria, processes, policies and documents in preparation for the SGLG evaluation this April 2023.
It can be recalled that the City of Valencia under the leadership of Mayor Sunny Huervas has received the SGLG Award FIVE (5) times already in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.
This year, LGU Valencia City is gunning for SGLG Award number six (6).
The SGLG Award is considered the highest and most prestigious award given by the DILG.
To receive the SGLG Award, LGUs need to pass all 10 governance areas namely: Financial Administration & Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection & Sensitivity; Safety, Peace and Order; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business Friendliness & Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts; and Youth Development.
The FIVE (5) SGLG Awards received by the City of Valencia are among the highest in Mindanao which indicates that the policies, standards and processes of LGU Valencia including the management of its financial resources are in compliance with the best practices and at par with national standards.
During the evaluation process, the City's SGLG Core Group was ably guided by DILG Provincial Director Rhona Pedraza-Abadilla and CLGOO Jan Eric Manasan.
