The ecotourism activities at Mt. Kalo-kalo and Mt. Pigngalngalan—two of the newest hiking destinations in Valencia City and Bukidnon—were officially opened on April 26–27, 2025, offering an exciting adventure for nature enthusiasts and mountaineers.
The launch was marked by the conduct of the “Opening Climb,” a special event participated in by over 100 hikers from various parts of Mindanao.
The activity was spearheaded by the Valencia City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division, in partnership with the Mt. Kalatungan Range Natural Park (MKaRNP) Protected Area Management Board, Barangay Lourdes Council, the local indigenous community, local tour guides, and the outdoor adventure group Discover Valencia.

The opening of Mt. Kalo-kalo and Mt. Pigngalngalan is a step toward promoting ecotourism in the area, while also protecting the environment and preserving local culture.
Through this initiative, Barangay Lourdes is expected to gain more recognition as a safe, eco-friendly, and adventure-filled destination. The barangay also features Tres Marias Waterfalls, which is now open to the public.
The Valencia City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division hopes that in the coming months, more visitors will take on the trail, establishing it as a key pillar of sustainable tourism development in the city and province.
